I came up with the idea to write a book when I was asked the question; What is Your Passion? Upon answering the question I said that "My passion is helping people access their inner dopeness!" As I said that I remembered a radio show that I did called "I'm a Hip Hop Hippie which focused on the fact that I am a spiritual conscious being from the Hip-Hop generation. I thought about how by using Hip Hop words, phrases and terminology, I will be able to Teach how to access the greatest, dopest part of your self to a generation of people who often get forgotten or ignored in the world of spirituality and consciousness because of the industry's inability to communicate to the Hip-Hp Culture.
My book will also focus on the non-traditional/non-conventional ways of creative marketing that I implemented through out my career. Skills that have taken me to the level of success that I enjoy today. The first time that I felt that someone was speaking to my soul and Identified with my culture and passion was when I read "Do You" By Russell Simmons, the book inspired me it gave me that feeling of "just do it" I was excited about my passion all over again. I remember The man that Russell was when he started Def Jam and I see who he has become now and that is truly inspiring.
I am a cool ass chick, I love Hip Hop and when I am listening to Mos Def, Pharoah Monch, Andre 3000, Common, Lauren Hill, Jill Scott and some of my other favorites, I feel like a teenager, I feel happy, I feel Love! I have never had to compromise who I am as a person to gain success in my business. I was able to experience happiness, laughter in my daily work which created an energy of love and appreciation which allowed positive thoughts which attracted the energy, necessary to realize my vision. As a child I was blessed to find an interest in things that were not a normal part of my surroundings for example literature, Poetry, art , science, those interest led me to a different state of mind which was inspired in a lot of ways by Hip Hop.
When Hip Hop was born or better said exposed (Hip hop's creative culture existed before it was discovered). It gave new hope and inspiration to "The Hood" I have seen individuals in different facets of hip hop be successful mostly in the entertainment industry but through the experience of the Hip-Hop culture, Hip Hop created many moguls in many industries that while working their 9-5 suppressed the urge to blast their Jay Z " Blue Print" CD in their office to not offend other co-workers.
The Hip Hop Culture has delivered many moguls and has inspired this mogul to believe that it doesn't matter what your dream is You can be a singer, songwriter, Artist, radio personality, Radio Marketing Director, Film Industry Product Placement Specialist, Marketing Specialist, Mother, Teacher, Philanthropist, Idea Developer, Website Designer, Entrepreneur, Public Speaker, Author and an incredibly conscious and spiritually connected Puerto Rican. Hip Hop has been a part of my formula for success and now I get to share my experience with millions of people and the ones that need it most will be inspired. In ode to one of my first business mentor Russell Simmons "Do You" and Watch What Happens!
